It has been published by Amazon (Kindle Direct Publishing), price £0.99 ebook, £5.99 paperback.

Dee, aged 68, explains: “My book is an anecdotal account of my travels throughout the world: from childhood as an RAF brat, leaving school with the wanderlust, and living during a time when work abroad was easy to find and travelling in Europe and Africa was fairly accessible; then following the hippie trail from Dublin to India and stopping to teach in Iran for a year; returning to work in England and further adventures with the family until 2007 when early retirement and travels further afield beckoned.

“I have lived and worked to travel, have new experiences and I love meeting people. I also enjoy reading of other folk’s adventures! Careering Across Countries pre COVID-19 should appeal to like-minded people as well as armchair travellers.

“Hopefully the true stories I recount are entertaining and amusing and may even inspire others to do what they can when they can once the pandemic subsides and the world is a safer place to travel in.

“I have always enjoyed writing and started writing specifically about my travels four years ago during lazy afternoons in Laos when hubby was having his siesta! Initially my scribblings were for the grandchildren but also for myself before I forget it all. Eventually I had written so much that I decided I should publish. However a book needs an ending and my travelling is ongoing. Lockdown, and all travel suspended, gave me an ideal end.

“I have ideas for another book on a totally different subject. Having written about my travels during the first six decades of my life, I think I am unlikely to live long enough to fill a book with my further travelling experiences!

“I am a first-time author although I have had a few short articles published since I was 12 years old.

“Like many children I had a vivid imagination and produced many stories as well as a handwritten magazine for my friends. Over the years I have found writing also to be therapeutic and it has helped me during difficult times. Now I am writing for enjoyment, this book specifically about my travels before old-age forgetfulness sets in.”
