BREAKING NEWS: Woman raped in Worthing after being separated from friends

A MAN has been arrested in connection with the rape of a woman at the junction of High Street and North Street, Worthing early this morning.

At around 3.30am a woman was walking home with friends when she became separated.

She was approached by a male who then raped her on the green area before making off, according to Sussex Police.

Police were called and a man was arrested near by and remains in police custody.

Detective inspector Alan Pack said: “Can anyone in the area at the time contact Sussex Police quoting incident 209 of February 7 2015 as they may have information that might assist the investigation.”

Sussex Police Scenes of Crimes officers were investigating the green area at around 10am this morning. The scene is now clear.

At the moment police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
