Dan said: “I will be talking about how meditation helped me as someone with Asperger’s and how meditation can help others to reduce stress and increase focus. I did a similar talk last year with the libraries in Chichester (where about 60 people attended), Bognor (about 30 people attended) and Midhurst (about ten people attended), so this year I was asked if I would do the same again, and I have been given the opportunity to talk in more libraries – Chichester, Bognor, Littlehampton, Rustington, Goring, and Worthing.

“West Sussex Libraries are running wellbeing events in the libraries across the county.

“I have linked up with the library service to run a Reduce Stress and Increase Focus with Guided Meditation talk. In my talk I will be sharing how learning meditation has helped me with my Asperger’s Syndrome (a high-functioning form of autism), and how what I learned can help others in their lives.

“I am an author and wellbeing trainer with autism spectrum disorder from Chichester. I have written Guided Meditations for Health & Wellbeing (a collection of therapeutic guided meditation scripts), Look Into My Eyes (about my personal and professional experiences with autism, including a chapter by my wife about being in a relationship with someone with autism, and a chapter of tips and strategies for parents/carers, teachers, friends, and employers, and those who have autism), Sleepy Bedtime Tales (a collection of meditative stories to be read to children to help them sleep), and Relaxing Tales for Children (a collection of meditative stories to be read to children to help them relax).

“In today’s fast-paced world of constant communication and gadgets for everything, it can be an overwhelming place and it is all too easy to spend our time reacting to the distractions rather than doing those things that are important to us.

“In this talk I will share how meditation can be used to reduce stress and increase happiness by learning how to manage what you focus on. During the event I will explain how meditation helped me with my Asperger’s, and will take the audience through a guided meditation.”
