ENTERTAINMENT: At Shoreham Ropetackle Arts Centre

COMEDY, world cinema and music are all on offer at the Ropetackle Arts Centre in January.

The centre, in Little High Street, in Shoreham, already has some great acts lined up for the new year.

On Thursday, January 20, the Thursday Film Club will host a screening of The Class (Entre les Murs), certificate 15.

The 2008 Palme D’or winner, directed by Laurent Cantet and starring François Bégaudeau, will be shown from 7.30pm.

Tickets for the film, described as “fierce, funny and moving” by Rolling Stone Magazine, are £5.

Richard Durrant’s Monthly Musical Forensics is on Thursday, January 27.

Focusing on guitar and film the show will include guitar performances and film footage – a combination used by Richard in his popular touring show, The Guitar Whisperer.

There will also be a screening of the award-winning short film, Mowzer, featuring Richard’s score.

Doors open at 7pm. The performance will start at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced £12 on the door, £11 in advance or free-of-charge for those aged 14 years and under if accompanied by an adult.

The Noise Next Door’s Cod and Comedy Club is on Sunday, January 30.

Featuring local improvised comedy group, The Noise Next Door, and a fish and chip supper, the night is a popular monthly event at the centre.

The Noise Next Door, otherwise known as Tom Houghton, Charlie Granville, Matt Grant, Tom Livingstone and Sam Pacelli, transform audience suggestions into funny scenes, epic stories and songs without any rehearsal or script.

Doors open at 7pm for an 8pm start. Tickets, priced £15, include fish and chips.
