Father and son exhibition in Chichester

“The dynamo duo are back,” says dad Patrick. 13-year-old Matisse is a student at St Philip Howard.

“This is our fourth exhibition in six years,” Patrick said. “It’s a joy working with him. He is getting very good at giving interviews. He just loves doing it. He enjoys it, and that’s the most important thing. It is going to be his own choice whether he becomes an artist. He is getting to the point where he is making his own choices and his own decisions, but he has got talent.

“I would say his work is developing all the time. His work is becoming more complex. It’s mainly based on narratives, and the narratives are getting more complicated, from the movies that he watches, from the games that he plays. He is saying he is going to start writing as well, illustrating the stories with words. He has got a very good eye for detail.”

As for Patrick, he says he is working on new landscapes and seascapes: “I have done some smaller pieces. I am going to show one piece that I have been working on for the last two years, a large picture of Christ. I have always painted from the Bible. I have always used the Bible as an inspiration for my painting.”
