FILM: Tower Block (15)

Silence can be deadly in James Nunn and Ronnie Thompson’s claustrophobic thriller.

Jimmy (Ralph Laurila) is brutally murdered by two hooded figures in the corridors of the Serenity House tower block and some of the residents, including Becky (Sheridan Smith), observe the harrowing crime.

However, when police ask for witnesses to come forward, no one speaks up, fearful of the reprisals for helping the boys in blue.

Several months later, Becky has forgotten about the murder, only for a new terror to grip the apartment block when a sniper begins taking pot shots through the windows.

Under fire and with nowhere to hide, Becky heads out into the corridor, where she discovers that the mystery attacker has set deadly traps to keep the tenants hostage in their homes.

Becky decides to search for a way out of Serenity House and she carefully makes her way through the booby traps accompanied by drug dealer Kurtis (Jack O’Connell) and other terrified targets.

Released: September 21 (UK & Ireland, selected cinemas), 90 mins.
