Williams will be in top of the bill action on the show, on Monday (April 7), that commemorates the first event staged in the town by top UK matchmakers Premier Promotions in 1994, when the headliner was the British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith.

Since then, many of the grappling game’s biggest names have appeared in Worthing, and Williams, who himself made his debut in 1998 before going on to be a global superstar and multi-winning American TNA and PWF champion, has wrestled most of them.

Bryan Danielson, the American Dragon, who now competes as Daniel Bryan and could headline this year’s world-famous Wrestlemania event in the USA, went up against Williams at Worthing in 2003, while other top international stars who have come out of the opposite corner include Paul Birchall, Tracy Smothers, Chad Collyer, Colt Cabana, “Magnus” Nick Aldis, Japan’s Muhammad Yone and Germany’s Christian Eckstein.

Williams and Birchall, in fact, teamed up for a tag match at Worthing in 2004, which they won in straight falls, while Williams has also figured in some epic battles against top British stars like Robbie Brookside, Flash Barker and Danny Collins.

Williams has wrestled in 30 different contries, including seven tours of Japan, but now he is back at his spiritual home in Worthing, where he won the coveted Worthing Trophy a record five times between 2002 and 2007, after three years contracted exclusively to the giant TNA organisation in the States.

The reigning PWF international champion goes in against rugged London contender Stingray Stevenson, a man who is no respecter of reputations, in one the feature bouts on Monday’s programme, while Southern Area title-holder is set to battle it out with the controversial “Polish Eagle,” Wolf Alexander.

The show, which starts at 7.45pm, will also include tag team action and appearances by new PWF welterweight champion Barry Cooper, teenage sensation Josh Faulkner and Andy “Boy” Simmonz.

Tickets, including reserved ringside seats and discounts for advance bookings, are available from the box office on 01903 206206, or on line via the Worthing Theatres website.
