Pallant House transfer for competition award-winners in Chichester

This year’s exhibition opened to huge acclaim at the Royal College Of Art in London before moving to the Minerva Theatre building in Chichester, the city which remains the competition’s spiritual home.

Now the 22 prize-winning works in the competition – which boasts the UK’s biggest art prize fund – will be shown at Pallant House Gallery from December 3-15 (open Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 5pm, Thursday to 8pm, Sunday 10am to 5pm closed Mondays).

This year the competition saw a record-breaking 3,700 entries, substantially up on last year’s 2,300 which was up from 1,900 the year before.

Executive chairman Neil Lawson Baker is delighted at the way it has all gone this year, with the feeling that the event as a whole really has gone up to the next level.

“The exhibition has been hailed a huge success, both in London and in Chichester. In London, a number of people within the Royal College of Art said it was one of the best exhibitions they had ever had. What has been fantastic has been the quality of the work we have been getting.”
