“I’m so gutted to be missing all the shows and events I was meant to be playing at. The doctors say I will be back in six-to-eight weeks and I cannot wait to sing for you all soon.”

Smith is expected to make a full recovery.

The singer recently cancelled tour dates in Australia and Japan. Other upcoming cancellations include Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Capital FM’s Summertime Ball.

He will resume touring in July once he has completed his prescribed healing time following the procedure.

Smith has promised fans he will be first on the team sheet for next year’s Wild Life Festival.
