Film do will raise money for toilets

A SERIES of short films will be screened to celebrate a Worthing theatre’s history – and raise money for its toilets.

The South Downs Film Makers will host The Big Loo Do, which features 14 short films in a two-hour programme on June 28 at the Connaught cinema, including The Jewel in the Town, a film about the history of the Connaught Theatre.

Other films include The Stars of Sussex Downs, which features one of Montague Street’s popular buskers, and also The Making of an Oboe, which focuses on the Worthing-based woodwind specialist, Howarth of London. All ticket proceeds from the afternoon of locally-filmed drama, musicals, documentaries and comedies will be used to renovate the theatre’s loos.

Worthing Theatres general manager Amanda O’Reilly said: “We know our loos are currently not to the standard we would wish so I was delighted when South Downs Film Makers wanted to donate the proceeds from the screening to the cause – we hope the Connaught toilets will be one of the jewels in the town very soon.”
