It clears the way for events on December 4 and 5 at the Ropetackle Arts Centre, followed by plenty more in January.

Shoreham Wordfest programme director Rosalind Turner said: “On Friday evening, December 4, Three Penny Piece bring some glamour to vintage jazz, reviving old-time favourites from the 1930s, 40s and 50s. Songstresses Antonia Hyatt, Hannah Summers and Hilary Andrews perform honey-toned tight trio jazz harmonies. Influenced by the Andrews Sisters, the girls re-work well-known swing, big band and boogie-woogie songs of the past and modern pop songs of recent decades with their unique trio take on songs of a bygone era.

“On Saturday afternoon, December 5, audiences are invited to celebrate the festive season as This Is My Theatre brings Charles Dickens’ classic tale, A Christmas Carol, to life in a stunning one-act adaptation. With traditional carols throughout, this will definitely get all of the family in the mood for Christmas.

“On Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge, a mean-spirited and miserly old man, is visited by the ghost of his business partner Jacob Marley. Shown Christmas’ Past, Present and Future he is offered the chance of redemption...but will he take it?”

Rosalind added: “We were very disappointed to press pause on our Local and Live festival, due to the recent lockdown. We are delighted that we can go ahead with Threepenny Piece and A Christmas Carol, which were meant to be the culmination of our festival. All the other festival events have been rescheduled to take place in January and February, starting with Geoff Mead’s talk, Viscounts and Chicken Stubbers on Friday, January 22 and Janet Behan’s original theatre piece Kathleen and Me on Saturday, January 23.”
