Covid-19 vaccination centres: Chichester businesswoman offering free trips for patients

Chichester residents are being offered free trips to the out-of-city vaccination centres.

Patients will be vaccinated at one of five GP surgeries in the district – the Selsey Centre, Tangmere Village Centre, Pulborough Medical Group, Riverbank Medical Centre and Petworth Surgery.

But with no site in the city centre, it means some people will face a journey to get to their appointment.

Kate Kelly, from Chichester, who set up her business Wander Wheels last year to take vulnerable people on trips out, said the venture hasn’t gone to plan and wants to turn it into something positive.

She said: “Initially my idea was to provide well being trips out for the elderly, wheelchair users and their friends and family.

“However this is obviously on hold due to the pandemic and I’m now focused on companionship and support people to remain independent.

“I am offering free transport to all the local residents who might be having difficulties getting to the out of town vaccination centres.

“The vaccine trips will be one person at a time. I have registered as a volunteer driver.

Kate, who is tested regularly for Covid, said she is offering the service to anyone within a ten to 15 mile radius from Chichester city.
