Lockdown lunches donated to teachers in Worthing and Findon

Teachers in Worthing and Findon have been treated to lunch during lockdown by a family-run restaurant in the village.

Rujina Monnan, whose sister is a teacher, wanted to show appreciation for the work being done in schools during the second national lockdown.

Lockdown lunches are being prepared at the Tajdar, in Horsham Road, and delivered to a number of preschools and primary schools in the area.

Rujina said: “During lockdown one, NHS staff, quite rightly so, were provided with free lunches and other benefits from the community.

“Schools were also closed during this time. However, lockdown two has not seen the same reaction.

“My sister is a teacher and we have seen how much work they have to prepare and complete in the background. We are a family-run Indian restaurant and have decided to provide free lunches for education service providers.”

Findon Village Preschool was treated to lunch last Wednesday and Chesswood Junior School in Worthing received meals today.

It will be the turn of Vale School in Findon Valley on Friday, then St John the Baptist Primary School in Findon next Wednesday.

Rujina said: “In total, we will be providing around 200 lunches to staff. This is our way to show our gratitude to those who are on the frontline and providing a stable, safe and healthy environment for our children and continuing their education.”
