Non-essential stores reopen: queues seen as shoppers return to high streets

Shoppers have already been queueing for some retail therapy as many non-essential shops were allowed to reopen today (June 15).

Due to the easing of lockdown measures, non-essential retail stores like clothing outlets were allowed to start trading again today by the Government.

But queues could be seen outside Sports Direct in Montague Street, Worthing, this morning.

Retailers have been preparing for the reopening by introducing new ways of socially-distanced shopping, such as hand sanitiser stations and marked pathways which shoppers will have to follow.

They have taken their cue from supermarkets, pharmacies and other essential stores which have remained open throughout the lockdown.
