Worthing hotelier finds way to continue tradition

A Worthing hotelier has found a way to continue supporting the mayor’s charities, despite events having to be cancelled.

Simon Margaroli, joint managing director at The Ardington Hotel, has been hosting a carol concert in aid of the mayor’s charities each Christmas for around a decade.

With music from Worthing Silver Band and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses, the annual concert has been extremely popular over the years.

So when the 2020 event had to be cancelled due to national lockdown, Simon looked at other ways to raise money, especially as mayor Lionel Harman had had to cancel other events, too.

He came up with a festive afternoon tea, delivered to customers by members of the Margaroli family, and raised £100 for Mr Harman’s chosen charities, Worthing Mencap, Worthing Sea Cadets and the Worthing Society.
