Last night (Thursday June 11) was the first showing of the new film and cinema goers packed a crowded Cineworld in Crawley to see the fourth instalment in the franchise.

However, their night of entertainment was cut short as half way through the sound cut out, with the picture following moments later.

Many took to Twitter to express their anger and dismay.

Tom Kingsbury was at the cinema and although being frustrated by what had happened was pleased with the way the cinema handled to situation.

He said: “We were watching the film, about half an hour into it the sound just cut.

“At first I thought it was part of the film then it was clear it wasn’t meant to happen as I couldn’t hear the voices.

“It wasn’t long before a staff member came and informed us that they were doing everything they could, then about two minutes later the picture was paused.

“Another staff member informed us that the film would not be being shown any further. We were then sent into a queue for a refund.

“They handled the situation really well although it was quite annoying.

Despite the error the cinema did resolve the situation by offering customers a full refund and free tickets to see another film at a Cineworld cinema.

Cineworld was asked to comment but has yet to do so. More to follow.
