The company, which has more than 2,000 UK stores including branches of Tile Giant and Wickes, will not be closing any branches within the county, a spokesperson confirmed.

Branches of Wickes and Toolstation will also not be affected by the closures, which will put 600 jobs at risk.

A spokesperson for the company said that all of the 600 affected employees were aware of the changes.

Ten smaller distribution and fabrication centres will also be closed and certain IT legacy equipment will be written off.

Speaking earlier today, John Carter, Chief Executive, said: “It is still too early to predict customer demand in 2017 with certainty and we will continue to monitor our lead indicators closely.

“Given this uncertainty we will be closing over 30 branches and making further efficiency driven changes in the supply chain.”
