The Gym Hub, in Worthing's Guildbourne Centre, has been sold as a 'going concern' following the collapse of Adur Community Leisure Ltd (ACL).

Both The Gym Hub and ACL, which included Lancing Manor Leisure Centre, Wadurs Community Pool in Shoreham and Southwick Leisure Centre, are owned by Impulse Leisure.

In an email to customers, the trustees of ACL - a registered charity - thanked customers for their support over the last 15 years and said it was with 'great sadness' they must announce the liquidation.

Adam Henry Stephens and Colin Hardman, who are licensed insolvency practitioners bound by the Insolvency Code of Ethics, have been proposed as joint liquidators of the company, the trustees said.

In a statement on The Gym Hub's website, the liquidators said: "Adur Community Leisure Ltd entered into creditors’ voluntary liquidation on July 27, 2020. Creditors’ voluntary liquidation is an insolvency process (administration is another one).

"This insolvency process means that there is not expected to be enough cash to pay all of the company’s creditors in full. An important task of the liquidators is to sell assets and recover monies so that creditors can be paid.

"The Gym Hub has been sold as a going concern, you will contacted by the new owner in due course."

Impulse Leisure had asked Adur District Council for more than £1million in financial support to help it emerge from lockdown, but withdrew its request and entered liquidation after the council expressed concern over the company's financial stability.

It warned the collapse of ACL could also see the loss of The Gym Hub and Storrington Leisure Centre.

It is not yet clear who is the new owner of The Gym Hub, nor whether Storrington Leisure Centre will be affected. However, both Storrington and The Gym Hub have been removed from Impulse Leisure's website.
