Celebration time for hundreds on graduation day

HUNDREDS of students were celebrating at the Nortbrook College graduation ceremony on Friday.

There were 600 students and their guests at Worthing’s Assembly Hall in Stoke Abbott Road for the higher education graduation.

Graduates in their caps and gowns were welcomed to the stage one by one to celebrate achieving their degrees and other higher level qualifications. Guest of honour was fashion designer Andrew Fionda, from the Pearce Fionda label.

Sue Dare, Northbrook College principal, said: “The sun shone for the 600 students graduating from Northbrook’s University Centre when they received their degrees on Friday.

“It was a pleasure and a privilege to share in their success and celebrations and Andrew Fionda delivered a moving and inspirational address to all those present.”

The University Centre at Northbrook College has been offering degree-level education for nearly 20 years and the campus buildings in West Durrington are currently undergoing upgrades and expansion due to open in 2015.

Among the qualifications celebrated at the graduation were apprenticeships, diplomas, degrees, Bachelor of Arts (BA) and HNCs. Subjects ranged from engineering and motorsport, fashion and theatre to health and social care and business.

The most popular qualification gained was the BA in theatre arts, with 77 graduates.

Northbrook is holding open days for its undergraduate and foundation degree courses on October 24 at its three campuses – at Broadwater Road, Worthing, campus for music courses; at Shoreham Airport campus for motorsport courses and at the University Centre in Littlehampton Road, Worthing, for all other courses. There is also an open day on October 25 for all subjects except motorsport.
