Slindon College, in Arundel, underwent a four-day inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, led by Rodne Fox, and staff were delighted by the contents of his report.

Mr Fox described the schools curriculum as “excellent and particularly well suited to the needs of the pupils” and added: “At every stage of the school, pupils, who have often struggled at previous schools, are well supported and enabled to make good progress.”

Describing the curriculum for boys with special educational needs or disabilities as “”one of the strengths of the school”, Mr Fox praised Slindon’s strong focus on literacy and numeracy and the wide range of creative and practical subjects it offered.

Headmaster David Quick said: “We can all be very proud of this inspection report which upholds our many strengths as a school and acknowledges our rapid progress in many areas.

“I would like to congratulate my entire team for their tireless efforts and support and our parents and pupils for their honest and helpful feedback to the inspection team.

“I am delighted that we are rapidly working through our development plan to address recommendations for even further improvements.”

Parents’ reaction to the news was equally as delighted as Mr Quick’s.

One said: “Although I never had any doubt about Slindon being the right school for my son, it is very interesting to read a detailed and glowing review about the school’s achievements.”

Another added: “This report makes excellent reading and is a credit to everyone at Slindon.”

The Independent Schools Inspectorate is the body approved by the Department for Education for the purpose of inspecting schools belonging to the Independent Schools Council.
