West Sussex cabinet member praises county’s best ever GCSE results

RECORD results for GCSE examinations were announced in West Sussex maintained schools and academies yesterday (Thursday, August 25).

West Sussex County Council’s member, Peter Griffiths, has praised the achievements of students and teachers following the provisional results.

Early indications show a significant majority of schools have improved their performance.

Provisional results indicate a five per cent improvement, compared with 2010, for students achieving five good GCSE’s, including English and mathematics, continuing the upward trend of the last five years.

Mr Griffiths said: “I am absolutely delighted with these results for schools and academies, and offer my congratulations to the students, staff and governors for their achievement.”
