The new co-educational school is due to open for Year 7 pupils at temporary premises in Hurst Road, Horsham, before moving to purpose-built accommodation in North Horsham. It will eventually provide places for 1,620 children aged from four to 16.

A spokesman for the education trust said: “Georgette brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role, having worked in education for over 15 years, specialising in curriculum, pastoral and leadership roles.

“She shares the trust’s high expectations and vision for the new school.”

Georgette said:“I am delighted to be the first headteacher of Bohunt Horsham and feel incredibly honoured to be able to take on this role, serving the local community and creating a school that will form a part of many Horsham families’ lives for years to come.

“I recognise that children do best when families and schools work as a team and we will strive to involve our families in all aspects of school life as Bohunt Horsham begins its journey and becomes part of an already thriving and vibrant community.”

Georgette was part of a team that led the high-performing Bohunt School Worthing from its official opening in 2015 to receiving a glowing report in its first Ofsted inspection this September. Said the trust spokesman: “In her role, Georgette was responsible for creating an inclusive and caring pastoral system at the school, of which Ofsted said: ‘The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare is outstanding‘.”

Before joining Bohunt, Georgette held senior roles at a number of secondary schools including a high-performing school in inner-city London, and at The Weald School in Billingshurst.

The local community’s first chance to meet Georgette will be at Bohunt Horsham’s Open Mornings, which are being held throughout December and January at Bohunt Worthing. Prospective students and families can apply for a place on them via the Bohunt Horsham website: www.bohunthorsham.com

Bohunt Horsham will be the eighth school in the Bohunt Education Trust network.
