Bosom Pals have fund-raising efforts all sewn up for Worthing breast cancer clinic

A GROUP of four friends are hoping to get their fund-raising efforts all sewn up.

Christine Edwards, Lyn Wright, Brenda Wakeman and Julie Root, otherwise known as the Bosom Pals, have spent the last 18 months creating a patchwork quilt which will be raffled in aid of Worthing Hospital’s breast cancer clinic and Butterfly support.

The friends, who have all either had breast cancer or a scare, now need to find enough money to get the quilt professionally finished.

In a bid to raise the cash they held a coffee morning which attracted more than 50 visitors.

Mrs Edwards said: “We held the coffee morning to raise enough money so we can get the quilt professionally backed and quilted which we think will cost about £200.

“The response we have had is fantastic and we are really grateful.

“We sold tea, coffee and cakes for £1.50 and had plant and bric-a-brac stalls.

“Making the quilt was a way of getting together and doing something positive.

“A way of giving back, and the money will help people like ourselves.”

Along with their mascot Christopher the bear, members of the group met up at each others homes once a month, to do some serious stitching.
