Councillor Neil Parkin, leader of Adur District Council, and councillor Daniel Humphreys, leader of Worthing Borough Council, gave an update on what the councils were doing during these ‘difficult times’.

They said: “As far as the services provided by the district and borough councils are concerned we are working around the clock to try to ensure that, as far as is humanly possible, we are keeping to business as usual.

“Our refuse collection services are still operating normally, as are our customer-facing services.

“Teams at the Councils have business contingency plans ready.”

They urged as many residents as possible to use the councils’ online services on their website to conduct business with the teams.

They also urged anyone who may have symptoms of the virus not to come into their offices.

Council teams will be using the website and social media platforms to keep residents informed of the latest developments.

They said: “These are obviously very difficult times and we urge people to follow the advice of the government and Public Health England about what to do as the virus spreads.

“We understand the impact this is having on residents, organisations and businesses.”
