Coronavirus cases in Worthing, Adur and Arun continue to fall - here are the latest figures

Confirmed cases of coronavirus in Worthing and Adur are continuing to fall rapidly, according to Public Health England.

For the week ending January 22, Worthing reported 385 cases per 100,000 people – compared to 610 for the week ending January 15.

That is a fall of 36 per cent within seven days.

Adur’s infection rate fell by 21 per cent over the same period, down from 482 to 378 for the week up to January 22.

The rate in Arun dropped by 30 per cent to 411 per 100,000 people.

For context, the average infection rate in England is 344, so all three areas remain above the national rate.

So far, 5,962,544 people in England have had their first vaccine dose.

Tragically, a total of 377 people have now died within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test in Adur, Arun and Worthing.

Since the pandemic began, 49 people have lost their lives in Adur, 195 in Arun and 133 in Worthing, as of January 26.
