Coronavirus: West Sussex confirmed cases and deaths in hospitals both increase

Coronavirus related deaths in West Sussex hospital trusts have increased by more than 10 per cent since the weekend, according to NHS England figures.

Reported deaths in trusts serving West Sussex have sadly risen to 232 today (April 22) from a total of 204 on Sunday (April 19). The NHS England total does not include those who have died outside of hospital.

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recorded no new deaths yesterday, while Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust recorded one and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust recorded two.

The latest NHS England figures for trusts serving West Sussex, as of April 22, are as follows:

- Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 64 deaths

- Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust - 11 deaths

- Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust - 157 deaths

The number of confirmed cases in West Sussex has also risen by around 10 per cent, from 820 on Sunday to 910 today, according to Public Health England figures.

Latest Government figures show there are now 133,495 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, with 18,100 people sadly dying in hospital.
