Vaccines were first administered at the centre on December 29, and by Friday (January 22) around 6,5000 people had been administered, according to Nikki Stanley, Bexhill Primary Care Network manager.

She said it is hoped that all over 80s and all residents in the 40 care homes in the area will be vaccinated by the end of next week.

While this top priority cohort of patients receives their vaccines, those aged 75 to 79 will be invited to receive their first jab, to avoid any vaccine waste.

This week, Ashbridge Court Care Centre, in Barnhorn Road, Bexhill, and Bay House Nursing Home, in Middlesex Road, Bexhill, said their residents had received their first doses on the Covid-19 vaccine.

People registered with one of Collington Surgery; Little Common Surgery; Pebsham Surgery; or Sidley Medical Practice will be eligible to receive their vaccines from Sidley Medical Practice. Patients will be contacted and have been reminded not to call their GP surgery.
