Latest coronavirus figures for Worthing, Adur and Arun as new restrictions to be announced

Mr Johnson is expected to announce tougher restrictions to curb the spread of the virus, which has been accelerated by the emergence of a new, more contagious strain.

West Sussex has been under tier 4 restrictions since Boxing Day, but cases have continued to rise.

According to Public Health England, the latest coronavirus figures for Worthing, Adur and Arun for the week ending December 30 are as follows:

- Worthing - 536 cases per 100,000 people – 593 new cases, an increase of 298 from the week before

- Adur - 510 cases per 100,000 people – 328 new cases, an increase of 80 from the week before

- Arun - 626 cases per 100,000 people - 1,007 new cases, an increase of 512 from the week before
