Spokeswoman Lucy Ashby said: “For the past eight years, Littlehampton Museum’s OPEN exhibition has brought together artists of all ages and abilities from all over Sussex and has resulted in hundreds of unique and stunning pieces of work being produced and shown to our visitors. This year, with the whole idea of togetherness seeming more important than ever, we plan on doing the same thing…with a little twist.

“This year we invite everyone to create something, whether you consider yourself to be an artist or not, based on your experiences, thoughts or feelings about these strange and challenging times we find ourselves in.

“We welcome traditional art mediums as always, but equally this year, invite expressions of any form to help us create a special and memorable display to mark this unique year.

“One creation can be submitted by each person, and museum staff will aim to display as many works as possible.

“The Museum will also be accessioning some pieces into the collection as a permanent record of our community during these important times.

“Exhibition dates and details of how to submit work will be announced in the coming months and will be considered in line with government advice to ensure the exhibition is safe to go ahead.

“We would love to see your ideas and artworks in the making, so please share photos on social media or email them to us to be featured in a special online gallery on our new website.”

Councillor Billy Blanchard-Cooper, chairman of Littlehampton Town Council’s community resources committee, added: “I am delighted to see the popular Littlehampton Museum OPEN exhibition returning this year. During this unprecedented time this is a wonderful opportunity to get creative and share your artwork with the whole town.”
