Curry Zone, in Wallace Parade in Goring, has been giving free meals to key workers since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, five days a week.

Owner Abed Sikdaar said the meals were a way of celebrating the bravery and hard work of NHS staff and the police force.

Abed said: “We are offering free meals as a way of giving back to these key workers while they’re going above and beyond for the rest of the community."

Curry Zone has provided free meals to the homeless and other charities in the past, and Abed added that as a local business it was important to contribute to the wider community where possible.

“Many of our customers rely on us during the week for their meals and with that in mind despite this hardship we remained open as per government regulations," he said.

"We really appreciate what the NHS staff and police are doing, and while most of us can avoid being in danger’s way by staying at home, they have to work hard and put themselves at risk to help all of us."
