Guardian Angel Carers offer professional, compassionate care services all year round, and now the team is needed more than ever to keep people safe and protected in their own familiar surroundings.

Owner Christina Handasyde Dick said: “I want to thank our amazing care team for their compassion, strong sense of duty, and ability to step up to the challenge in these unprecedented times. Care is often seen as something that happens in the background, but it is an essential service in the community; our CareAngels have been working relentlessly with smiles on their faces and a positive attitude, I cannot commend you enough, thank you.”

She also thanked the community and other businesses who have helped, including Vegetology, for supplying vitamins to help keep CareAngels healthy after winter, to the team at Medics Money for facilitating the supply of facemasks, to AMufacture for using their 3D printers to create face shields, to Hotel Chocolate for their discounted Easter eggs for all the team, and to We Are Blessed, a yoga company, which has given Guardian Angel Carers free access to live online classes, alongside the NHS.

Christina added: “There are huge benefits to mindfulness and yoga; our CareAngels are so good at looking after other people, and it’s important they make time for themselves too.”

Guardian Angel Carers have been hugely proactive in equipping their team and prioritising the safety of clients. A small cell of CareAngels looks after each client, which minimises the risk of spread of any potential infection. All are highly trained in infection control. In addition, they have been wearing face shields for over a month, taking steps over and above Government guidance.

While they currently do not provide care to any COVID-19 clients, for any new clients wishing to commence care that have tested positive, they have protocols in place to allow a dedicated one-to-one service. A single CareAngel would attend the client and no other clients, which would contain any risk of spread.

Home care is a growing industry, with many recognising it as a safe way to support individuals to have a good quality of life for longer in their own home. A key advantage is home care can be tailored to suit any care need, whether you need a little help around the house, assistance with food shopping, meal preparation, medication, all the way through to end of life care. Guardian Angel Carers can help with their compassionate and professional team.

Live in care, where a trained carer provides support in your own home, is one of the safest options, offering wrap round care in a controlled environment. According to one industry blog, the Live-in Care Hub, such care provides “a ready-made solution, enabling the most vulnerable to be cared for within the comfort of their own home. An alternative to residential and nursing care that can help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 further, (it can) free up hospital beds to reduce the burden on the NHS.”

The Worthing firm has built an army of CareAngel Reserves that are trained and ready to support with the ‘softer’ side of care. So for those shielding that need some support with shopping or picking up prescriptions, help is at hand.

Christina added: “Once again, the wider community and our team are doing a tremendous job. From the bottom of my heart, a huge thank you to you all, keep up the great work!”
