Shoreham boy cycles 23 miles to raise money for the NHS

Ollie Stepney, 11, raised £405 in total, which will be given to help support the NHS in the challenging fight against coronavirus. He received donations on the NHS Charities Together donations page, on his father’s Facebook account.

Ollie, who is currently a pupil at Swiss Gardens Primary School, said: “I wanted to do this ride because my auntie is a nurse and I wanted to help.”

Ollie completed this bike ride with his dad, Simon Stepney. He managed to cycle 23 miles, starting from his home in Shoreham, before cycling to Brighton, and then back along to Worthing Pier, before returning home to Shoreham.

His mum, Nikki Stepney, expressed how proud she was of her son’s achievement.

The mum-of-two said: “I’m super proud of Ollie, I think it’s a huge achievement to raise money for such a great cause. He absolutely smashed it.”

Ollie is one of the many people who have been helping to raise money for the NHS, with the most well-known example being Captain Tom Moore, who has recently been promoted to Colonel.
