Looking back at Chichester Dragon Boat Race 2019

The atmosphere was electric at Chichester Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge 2019. Teams were encouraged to go in fancy dress, the dance crew from Chichester Down Syndrome Support Group was there and people cheered along the water’s edge from the Canal Basin to Ponytz Bridge.

The swans and their recently-hatched brood of five cygnets were quite a hit too. With so many people enjoying what the canal has to offer, the canal volunteers did a sterling job, especially those in the cafe, where the queue for refreshments snaked out the door. Please note, as a consequence of the coronavirus developments, this year’s dragonboat event has been given a new date of Sunday, Septemeber 20.
