Small Batch coffee roasters launched in Brighton and Hove ten years ago and the Worthing store is the company’s first to open outside the city.

Small Batch spokeswoman Georgia Hall said: “Worthing is perfect for us. There are so many exciting things happening in Worthing at the moment. We are really excited to be here.”

Laura Lumsden, head of coffee training, said: “The staff are all from Worthing and they seem to know everyone. Some people come in every day, it’s so nice.”

Small Batch was started by Alan Tomlins and Brad Jacobsen who had a stall at Hove Railway station.

They now have eight retail units in Brighton and Hove and 200 wholesale customers nationwide.

Small Batch Coffee Roasters specialise in roasting small batches of green coffee beans daily from Hove. The beans are sourced from all around the world with founder Alan visiting farms to build up close relationships.

As well as the coffee, the Worthing store has a range of exciting food from fresh salad pots and frittatas to the more unusual bacon muffins and parsnip cake.

Ben Goldsmith, head of food, said: “Worthing has the company’s first chilled display unit and we are trying to offer something different. We want to be a serious foodie destination.”
