St George’s Lodge is a small, friendly, family-run residential care home providing 24-hour care – but more than that, it strives to be a home, away from home for anyone who lives there.
From delicious home-cooked meals to the warm boutique-hotel feel of the elegant décor, everything is done to make those that live in this impressive Chesswood Road property feel at home.
It is registered to care for up to 26 residents and all rooms are single, with most having en-suite facilities and its kind and qualified staff are dedicated to giving a friendly and professional service. There are personal care plans for each resident to reflect their particular requirements.
The home’s website says: “Our mission is to deliver outstanding care and support by promoting a positive culture that is person-centred, open, inclusive and empowering.
“We aim to provide a relaxed, homely and happy environment, where a service user’s physical and emotional wellbeing is of utmost priority so that individuals can live fulfilled lives in a safe, caring and compassionate environment.”
There is a full programme of engaging entertainment and activities to suit a variety of hobbies and interests, and beautiful landscaped gardens to look out on, or spend time relaxing in with friends and family.
Ratings and reviews
St George’s was rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission, who last inspected it in September 2021. The report said people were encouraged to be involved in every aspect of life at the home and that staff said they enjoyed working there. It described the atmosphere as ‘relaxed and cheerful’.
The home is rated overall 9.9 out of 10 by reviewers on www.carehome.co.uk.
One reviewer, whose mother lives at St George’s Lodge, said: “Mum has been a resident at St George’s since last summer and settled in very quickly thanks to the wonderful, attentive staff. It is such a huge relief to know our mum is happy, safe, content and extremely well cared for. The home is always spotless, the gardens beautifully kept, and the staff are warm and welcoming.
“They have been under immense pressure but are always so cheerful. Our family is so grateful for the care Mum gets under such difficult circumstances whilst always adhering strictly to the Covid guidelines to keep our loved ones safe.”
Another commented: “The home is very welcoming, and all the carers go above and beyond the call of duty. Her key worker is very dedicated.”
And one five star review said “It is beautifully designed and looks more like a posh B&B rather than a care home.”
A further reviewer simply said: “We are so pleased that we found St George’s Lodge for our mum. As with all mums, she is the best, and we wanted the best for her; we found that at St George’s.’
