Valerie Britton (née Cooper) emailed in to clear up some of the queries about the names of the children in this photo of the Infants 2 class from St Mary’s Primary School, in 1952.
Valerie, who now lives in Australia, is pictured sixth from left on the middle row.
She said: “I have lived in Australia since 1963 and pretty much lost contact with happenings in Worthing.
“I was delighted to hear from a friend that the Worthing Herald is available online.”
Valerie corrected the first name of the girl second from left on the middle row, from Janet to Pauline.
She also identified the boy second from right on the front row as Patrick Bergin.
Valrie added: “If anyone has contact details for Valerie Wheeler I would love to get in touch with her.”
The boys fifth from left on the back row, and far left on the front row, are the only two remaining to be identified.
Terry Boyle, who originally sent in the photo, had two names in mind for the boy on the far left of the front row, Bernard Dann and Gerald Kilty, but was unsure which was correct.
Back row (from left to right) – William Wodman; Terry Boyle; Ralph Walker; David Pets; ?; David Coffin; Neil Fraser; Joe Smyth; Ted Barratt; Gerald O’Sullivan; Tom Brett; Kevin Curran.
Middle row – Janet McLachlan; Pauline Nicholls; Julia Cocher; Mary Keohane; Moira Daly; Valerie Cooper; Christine Pearce; Patricia Hollywood; Sandra Green; Anne Warren; Mary Byrne.
Front row – Bernard Dann or Gerald Kilty (?); John Yeomanson; Tony Mason; Maria White; Marion Austin; Frances Mandea; Pamela Stanford; Teresa Pedley; Valerie Wheeler; Gwyneth Davis; Patrick Bergin; Jimmy Fagin.
Can you put a name to the remaining faces?
