THE Herald and Gazette series is once again offering readers the chance to win pairs of tickets to the Shoreham Airshow.
This year’s airshow, to be held on Saturday, September 1, and Sunday, September 2, will see new displays and the welcome return of some old friends.
Organisers have once again booked the Avro Vulcan to appear on both days.
Press officer John Periam said: “We must stress this is subject to serviceability and weather which is totally out of our control.”
Mr Periam went on to say the display listing for this year’s 23rd Royal Air Forces Association show, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the RAF Central Flying School, was “perhaps one of the best to date”.
The RAF is providing two GR4 Tornado aircraft and the Royal Navy Historic Flight is sending its Swordfish along to display both days. On Saturday, there will be displays from the hawk, Tucano, Tutor, a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team.
On Sunday, the Red Devils parachute display team will drop in on the show.
The World War One display team will have seven aircraft displaying in its aerial dogfight and the World War Two airfield attack, featuring the German ME108, will also return.
Aerobatic displays will come from the Brietling wing walkers, the Blades aerobatic team, the Matadors, Trig Aerobatic Pitts Duo, Justyn Gorman in his Extra 300L and the Swip team.
Sally B (B-17G) will be flying on both days along with the PBY-5A Catalina.
Organisers will welcome the Spitfire and the Mustang of the Old Flying Machine Company, providing some close-formation flying.
Ground attractions will also be in abundance this year with a large static aircraft display, flight simulators, a fun fair, trade stands, a military vehicle parade and live music.
At the RAFA stand, there will be a chance to meet the pilots and celebrities at the event.
