Daughter Carol Booth said: “She remembers it well. She said she used to hear the bell ringing from her house and by the time it finished, she was at the back of the queue to go in.”

When the school celebrated its 100th birthday in 2005, she was invited to cut the cake, as the oldest surviving pupil.

Olive worked as a nanny. She married her late husband Arthur Sidney, known as Sid, in 1933 and they had three children, Carol, Brenda Forrester and Eric Richardson. The family lived in North Street, in a house where Lidl now stands.

Carol said: “They were a sociable couple and loved dancing. We used to go to the Dome Ballroom every Saturday from when I was three.
