Katie Peters, 14, from Horsham, and friend Serena Coomber, 14, from Partridge Green, have both been selected to perform in the English Youth Ballet’s adaptation of Swan Lake in November.

The girls were picked from a group of more than 200 young dancers at auditions in Woking last July and both admitted they faced some very tough competition.

Katie said: “I was really really pleased to be picked as there were lots of talented girls there.

“I have been dancing since I was two and a half and it has always been my dream to dance. I am really happy and really excited about the performance.”

Serena added: “I am extremely pleased, it is a dream come true. I have been doing it since I was two and it is something I have always wanted to do. I am very excited.”

They will both be performing as swans in the ballet and will be dancing alongside internationally renowned artists from the English Youth Ballet.

The aim is not just for the pair to dance in a major production but also to learn from the professions and get an insight into life as a ballet dancer.

Katie said: “Training is going well. It is a challenge but it is really really good and I am really enjoying it.”

The girls will be performing in three shows on November 14 and 15 at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking.
