A27 closure: Three lorries and five vehicles in collision as Shoreham gridlocked

Shoreham has ground to a halt after a collision on the A27 involving eight vehicles this afternoon (December 23).

Emergency services responded to the incident near the Sussex Pad traffic lights just after 1pm after three lorries collided with five other vehicles.

Sussex Police said minor injuries have been reported among those involved.

The A27 remains closed westbound from Lancing to Portslade and traffic has backed up along surrounding roads and into Shoreham.

Steyning Road and Old Shoreham Road is gridlocked, with traffic stretching back along Upper Shoreham Road as far as Hangleton in East Sussex.

The seafront is also extremely busy, with huge tailbacks as far as Portslade.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service are also on the scene.
