A27 collision in Sompting: three people taken to hospital

Three people were taken to hospital following a collision on the A27 in Sompting, according to the ambulance service.

Ambulance crews were called to a collision involving two cars in Upper Brighton Road, Sompting at the junction with Halewick Lane shortly before 10.30pm yesterday (June 8). Three people were taken to hospital after being assessed and treated at the scene, a spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said. One patient was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and two patients were taken to Worthing Hospital. The fire service were also involved. A spokesman for the fire service said: "Two crews from Worthing Fire Station were mobilised to the scene along with the Heavy Rescue Tender. Upon arrival at the scene they found two vehicles that had been involved in the collision, and began work on releasing one person who was trapped in one of the vehicles. The last crew left the scene at 11.27pm.”
