A27 UPDATE: Teenager dies in Arundel crash

POLICE have confirmed that the car driver killed in a crash on the A27 at Arundel this morning (Thursday, August 25) was a 19-year-old man from Horsham.

Fire crews freed him from the wreckage of his car after it was in collision with a lorry between Arundel railway station and Crossbush and he was given immediate medical treatment, but died at the scene.

The accident happened at 7.10am and resulted in the A27 being closed in both directions, leading to severe traffic congestion around the area, with diversions set up around Ford, Littlehampton and Lyminster.

Police and the Highways Agency said it was expected the road would be reopened at about 2pm, and drivers are advised to avoid the Arundel area if at all possible in the meantime.
