Accident after stolen gravestones left on A24 at Findon

Police are appealing for witnesses after stolen gravestones were left in the southbound carriageway of the A24 at Findon.

The stones were stolen from Findon village cemetery sometime between 10pm and 10.15pm on Monday (March 21) and were then placed in the road and covered with leaves and branches.

A Range Rover travelling on the southbound carriageway hit the stones causing a punctured tyre and damage to the paintwork of the vehicle. The driver was not hurt.

PC Paul Waltho said, “This was a senseless act of vandalism and there maybe other drivers whose vehicles may have been damaged who have not come forward.

“If anyone has any information about this incident, please contact us.”
