The entire school got involved with Maths Week as did many of the children’s parents.

Jo Halley, maths co-ordinator at the school said: “It was a really good week. There was a good buzz around the school and we had a lot of support from the parents.”

Many games and activities were held that incorporated mathematical elements. The results from welly throwing were used to create graphs and the children had to utilise their knowledge of measurements during cookery.

The year 3’s were given a chance to show off their entrepreneurial skills in a soup challenge.

Classes were given a budget of £10 at the beginning of the week and had to design and make their own soups. They then had to sell their soups by the cup to parents in order to try and make a profit.

On the Friday, the school, which has beach school status, celebrated World Ocean Day with a maths twist. They measured seaweed and classified pictures of sealife.
