ACTIVITY CENTRE GETS £750 DONATION

Scallywags, an activity centre for children at East Hoathly, has received a £750 cash injection thanks to Southern Water and its contractor 4Delivery which is putting safety first as part of its motto "be proud to be safe".

So far, Southern Water and 4Delivery have raised more than 18,000 for good causes including cancer research charities, pet rescue centres and local hospices across South East England as part of the initiative.

Martin Wolf, 4Delivery's Site Manager, said: 'Construction sites are dangerous places to work so we wanted to give staff an incentive to work safely.

'For every accident-free man day we have been working on the scheme in East Hoathly, Southern Water and 4Delivery donated 30p to charity.

'We are really pleased to be able to donate to the centre and help ensure all our staff go home safely at the end of every working day.'

Lindsey Coates, Chairman for Scallywags, said: 'We offer children day care where they can learn in a fun environment. The donation from Southern Water and 4Delivery will allow us to purchase new equipment so we can provide better computer and education facilities.'

Southern Water and 4Delivery are working on a 1.5 million scheme at East Hoathly to refurbish and upgrade the existing works to improve the quality of the water returning to the environment.
