Adur, Arun and Worthing to tackle issues of homeless

ADUR, Worthing and Arun councils are joining together to tackle homelessness.

The three authorities are embarking on an review, looking at how easy it is for the homeless community to access services across the districts.

Chairman of the Joint Scrutiny Panel, made up of nine councillors from the areas, Dr James Walsh, said: “Changing circumstances mean that anyone can find themselves homeless – it is not a problem that is restricted to one particular group in society.

“It is important that we have a clear picture that identifies any gaps or improvements needed in the current services provided to people who find themselves homeless.”

The panel will be talking to organisations and individuals with first-hand experience of working with or helping the homeless access health, employment, education and leisure services, and an event, at Worthing Town Hall, tomorrow, will bring representatives from groups, including Shelter, together.

Anyone who would like to be involved in the review can write to Mark Lowe, Worthing Town Hall, Chapel Road, Worthing, BN11 1HA.
