Alcoholic shoplifter given suspended prison sentence

A RECOVERING drug addict with a broken leg was given a suspended sentence for a string of offences committed while under the influence of alcohol.

50-year-old Italian Claudio Gizzi of Bushby Close, Sompting, pleaded guilty to three counts of shoplifting, one of burglary and one of possessing a screwdriver in public at Worthing Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Gizzi was given a six-week prison sentence suspended for one year, and was ordered to pay £24 in compensation to Forfars Bakery in Cricketers Parade, Worthing.
