Amazing winter fundraiser

Another Christmas fair put on hold because of bad weather was the one organised by the Bexhill branch of the Royal Air Force Association at the Albatross Club.

It was held this weekend instead and raised £750 for the Wings Appeal.

Branch chairman Pat O’Brien commented: “It was an amazing success... it was outstanding. We were very well supported by members of the public. Also we had eight cadets from the ATC and their sergeant on hand to help us which made an enormous difference.

“Everybody was very happy with the huge bottle stall and we had plenty of cakes, bric-a-brac, and raffles, all contributing to the whole jolly atmosphere, and it went very well.”

A welcome face at the event was the one belonging to Elsie Igglesden, who lent her considerable charm to the sale of raffle tickets - this was her first fair since the death of husband Ken who was longterm president of the branch.
