Angmering man among five people hurt in A27 smash

TWO men, one from Angmering and the other from Worthing, were taken to hospital after being involved in a crash which closed part of the A27 last night (Tuesday, April 14).

The incident took place on the dual carriage way, westbound, at the junction of Dyke Road and King George IV Avenue, in Hangleton, at 10.21pm.

Two cars were involved, which included a taxi owned by Castle Cars, based in Arundel, with a total of five people being injured.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “A silver Toyota Avensis and a silver Toyota Auris estate car had collided, resulting in slight injuries to both drivers and five passengers.

“The driver of the Avenis, a 64-year-old Angmering man, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, and a 21-year-old Worthing man who was a passenger in the Auris was taken to Worthing Hospital, but neither was detained.”

The 73-year-old driver of the Auris, from Goring-by-Sea, and the other passengers did not require hospital treatment, the spokesman added.

The A27 westbound and the junction slip roads were briefly closed to traffic while emergency services were in attendance.
