A WORTHING woman is thought to be missing after failing to return home from a business trip in Qatar.

Karen Furlong, 46, of Crescent Road, travelled to Doha in Qatar on Saturday, January 7 for work.

She was due to be out of the country until Friday, January 27, however she has failed to return home.

Karen travelled out to Qatar to work for a company called Nakfa Qatar Decorating, based in Doha.

Karen’s family were initially in contact with her, but recently she has not been answering their phone calls. It is believed that she may have travelled from Doha to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt.

PC Vikki Leech of Adur and Worthing Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “It is unclear why Karen has not come home. We are appealing for any of Karen’s friends, who are yet to speak to police, to contact us so that we can build up a picture of Karen’s life and the reasons why she may not have returned.

“When Karen travelled to Qatar it is believed she struck up a friendship on the flight with a woman called Liz who was also travelling to work for the same company. We are keen to speak to Liz. We are also keen to speak to anyone with any information regarding the company Nakfa Qatar Decorating.”

Karen travelled from Gatwick to Qatar, via Istanbul and Dubai, on the Turkish Airline flight TK1998 on Saturday, January 7. The flight was delayed and it is believed that it took off at around 3.50pm.

Karen is described as white, 5ft 4in, with shoulder length hair, which was a distinctive red colour when she left for Qatar.

Karen’s friends, and anyone with information which may assist police with their enquiries, is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 0648 of 28/1
